Friday has rolled around fast this week and so as I don’t forget our recent holiday to Fiji too fast here are a few more photos from our time away.

I had purchased a new lens to take away with me on this trip and so I had fun trying a few different things.  I usually like to use my 24-70mm zoom lens and while some of these shots are taken with that lens I also had the lovely 35mm fixed lens with me – it was great to step out of my comfort zone and play around with this lens which produces beautiful bokeh.

Here are this weeks favourites – sunshine, beaches, freshly plaited hair and most importantly relaxing with the family.

So now it is time to start dreaming about our next holiday – somewhere different I think next year!

I love a fun bright theme for a party and last weekend one of Mr A’s cousins turned 21 so I got to have fun creating a fun bright dessert table!  Christina wanted a fiesta theme for her big night and picked hot pink, red and orange for the colours.

I was really excited when she chose these colours as it meant I could use the fabulous red glass cake stands for the food!   Jacki from Blissfully Sweet made the cupcakes, cake pops and cheesecakes in a jar and Jho from It’s a Cake Thing created the perfect macaroons in the matching colours.

The lollies on the table included jaffa’s, bon bons, shimmer gum balls, red sour bricks and rock candy sticks.  The delicious tassel garland behind the table was made by Blush Loves Mint and finished off the fiesta themed table perfectly!

When I opened my email to see the amazing cakes that Lisa from Sweet Disposition Cakes had sent me for this weeks feature my jaw definitely dropped – to say they are incredible is an understatement!

The detail on these cakes is really out of this world don’t you think?  Truly a masterpiece.

Lisa fell in love with making amazing cakes when her youngest child had his 1st birthday, which was almost 4 years ago this August.  She made him a simple garden and bug themed cupcake tower and there was no looking back after that!  She loves seeing the happiness and excitement on people’s faces when they see their cakes for the first time, especially when she does her own children’s cakes.  Lisa says “When cake decorating taken further as an art form it is amazing what can be created.”

Lisa’s business grew in stages from her son’s first birthday.  She was making cakes for fun for a while for friends and family and then taught cake decorating for about a year as a contractor but found it difficult to juggle a big family, a small decorating business and teaching.  She decided that she wanted to focus more on her own cakes, Lisa loves that she can combine my skills as a graphic designer with her love of painting and of course yummy cake.

Lisa tells me the most favourite flavour is the simple chocolate mud cake, it is also a favourite of friends and family!  A close second is white chocolate with raspberry curd swirl.

So we headed back to Fiji again this year for a family holiday – some much needed time out and sunshine in the middle of our cold Sydney winter.   The weather was wonderful although a few evenings were a little cool because of the trade winds that pick up at this time of year in Fiji.

We visited a different island this time around – Plantation Island.  The kids had a fabulous time and made lots of wonderful friends who they are still talking about even though we have been home for a few weeks now.  Mr A and I got our 5 star fix when we stayed at the Hilton on the mainland and while the islands are basic I can say we did have a fabulous time – nothing quite like living on Fiji time when nothing is a rush.

As always I took loads and loads of photos and have way too many favourites so I will split this into two posts so as not to bombard you!  All of these shots are taken while on Plantation Island – a few nice sunsets, the kids on the beach with Mr A and a few while hanging on the pier before we headed home.

Have a lovely weekend everyone x
