Finally after a bit of a wait I am able to show of the lovely party we threw for Sienna and her best friend Tess at the beginning of the year.

Some of you who follow me on facebook may remember the rain drama’s that hampered us during January and February meaning we had to postpone the party not once but twice!  Finally the weather turned it on for us and we had a magical day and as you can see from the smiles on the kids faces they had a blast.

The girls had both asked for a pool party but Sienna’s birthday actually falls in August so we made the decision to postpone and have it closer to Tess’ birthday which was right in the middle of summer.
Once the pool party idea was set we then wanted to come up with a cool theme to go with it so enter the retro pink flamingo!

Tash (Tess’ mum) is a super genius graphic designer so she came up with the amazing invitation and party stationery that set the tone for the entire day.  Both the girls love blue so we incorporated this into the colour theme – perfect also to tie in with the pool!

We set up three different tables on the day – first was the dessert and candy table, second the ice cream bar and third the drinks station.

The Dessert and Candy table showcased the gorgeous cake by Jacki from Blissfully Sweet cakes.  Our brief to Jacki was to provide a simple cake that encompassed the ombre blue colour and two pretty flamingos representing both the girls.
Her design cake was amazing – look at those gorgeous flamingo figurines on top.
I had also wanted to do something different to cake pops on sticks but still love the idea of cake balls.  Jacki’s interpretation of the cake ball tower I asked for was just perfect!  Again the lovely ombre colour and a striking element to the table.  To finish with some more ombre Jacki made delicious marshmallows that were a hit!
Add in the candy and the table was complete and a big favourite on the day.

The next table was the Ice cream bar.
Very cute cupcakes that looked like ice cream sundaes meant we didn’t need to worry about melting ice cream.  The jars were filled with sherbert ice cream cones and wafers for when we served the ice cream later in the party.

Next up is the drinks station which included the stunning drinks dispenser filled with pink lemonade – perfect for the hot day!  We created our great ice cream bar and drinks table with an old traymobile of my mums that we attached painted balsawood panels to the front.
We kicked off the party with a very cute photo booth that we created by painting an old door pink and white.

The kids had so much fun picking a little prop from the basket to use while they had their photo taken and we got some fabulous shots to send to them as part of their thank you note.  I love this one of Sienna and Tess together grinning like cheshire cats – so happy! Some other fun activities on the day included a water balloon fight, lucky dips, glittery tatoos, nail painting and of course loads of fun in the pool.A little dressing room was created with our Ikea bookcase so that everybody had somewhere to store their bag and clothes while they were in the pool – the perfect way to prevent lost clothes and shoes.Party favour boxes were made using mini ice-cream tubs which went great with our summer theme and the goodies that were inside – cute little stationery items and lipgloss all ice cream themed. After the fun of the party was done a few little monkeys came out to play in the photoboth  – couldn’t resist showing these photos of Sofia showing her true colours as the little devil she is!I hope you have enjoyed all the little details that went into our fun pool party! It was fantastic to watch the kids have so much fun.

Most of the items you see on the table including the party favour boxes and bags, glass jars, cake stands, drinks dispenser, candy, ice cream cups and spoons can be purchased in the Sweet Style store but please email me if there is something you would like to know and I will do my best to help.

Thanks also to Hostess with the Mostess for featuring the party on their blog last week!
