The big talk in our house this week is Halloween – something that I am still getting used to as growing up here in Australia Halloween was never something that we really acknowledged.

Times have changed and Halloween is now another major event on the celebration calendar. Last week while I was visiting the lovely Gaby at my favourite party shop Love To Celebrate she was explaining to me just how huge it is in America and how October has now become such a big month for her now that us Aussies have picked up on a another reason to celebrate.
I couldn’t resist taking a few great shots of her wonderful window and lovely displays to show you all – take a look at all this spookiness!

I couldn’t resist coming away with one of those great pumpkins that lights up!
On Sunday evening we will be heading out with some friends in our wonderful neighbourhood for some trick or treating – the kids are really so excited about their first “real” halloween
So what are you up to – are you celebrating Halloween at your house?

  1. Oh yes! Because my family is Scottish, we celebrated every year as children – Celtic traditions, that are somewhat different to the American version of Halloween. Now I have children, we’ve hosted a party for the last five years and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. I just, tonight, hung over 50 metres of double-sided Halloween bunting that I made last week around my house and back deck! I also have lots of decorations that I bought in New York a couple of years ago and some very precious family Halloween heirlooms that we set out on our Welsh dresser and sideboard. My husband and I are hosting a dessert and champagne supper for 8 families, so we are finalising the planning of our dessert table. There’s lots of lovely inspiration around, not the least from your wonderful blog! 🙂

  2. Thank you Leanne for your beautiful post on love to celebrate’s Hallooween display. I will have to get some photography tips from you as your photos are FANTASTIC. Happy Halloween and I hope you and the girls have a great time “Trick or Treating”.

  3. I love seeing the traditions & celebrations of Halloween in the USA! It’s HUGE!!!!! Everyone really gets on board & goes the whole hog there this time of year & i love it! I love cruising American blogs to see all their Halloween festivities! So much fun!
What are your kids dressing up as?
    xo

  4. My little one is a little too young to celebrate this year but next hopefully we will go all out & have a fantastic time. I love any opportunity to put smiles on childrens’ faces. I had a whole heap of lolly bags made up for the neighbourhood children however we’ll now be on the other side of the country on Sunday.
