I have another gorgeous party to share with your today that I was lucky enough to photograph recently for my lovely friend Dewi from Sweetbloom Cakes.

The party was held for her son Clayton who was turning 5.  Dewi who is an amazing baker made all the delicious treats for the table and Vesna from One Lovely Day Events was the stylist.  Vesna created cute Circus Soiree printables that were used throughout the party including the invites and the cake.  I loved the little ticket buffet signs for each item of food.  Vesna also styled the table on the day.

Here are some shots from the day including the amazing edible invitation (don’t worry there was also a printed version included in case you at the invite before the party) and the most amazing party favour box filled with delicious Sweet Bloom Cakes baked treats which included a cake in a jar and delicious chocolates.

Good morning everyone.  Monday Favourite time here on the blog and today we are meeting Kathryn Rizk from All Things Cake and Small in Sydney.  Kathryn and Jenny specialise in delicious cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and dessert tables and they have joined me today to let us know a little about their business.

Here is what Kathryn told me about her cake journey:-

Kathryn tells me that just under two years ago together with her friend Jenny (who is my business partner) started this business after their husbands realised how much they loved baking and decorating.

Over the years they have created so many different cakes but their favourite to create are children’s cakes and christening cakes.

Of all their cake flavours, the most popular would have to be chocolate mud, but their personal favourite is raspberry vanilla. Sounds delicious.

Friday has rolled around again – it is a scorcher here today in Sydney but I am loving it!  I have been in the studio shooting ice cream today for a fun giveaway on the blog next week and let me tell you sampling the proceeds has not been such a tough gig on a hot day like today!

While I have food on the mind I thought I would share with you four fabulous food bloggers that I think you should check out today!  All are quite different but have so much to offer – great weekend browsing.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of styling and photographing a party for Emma-Lee and her daughter Azaelee. Emma is the owner of Emma-Lee Cake Design and as you can see from the beautiful items on the table she is a master in the kitchen!

Together Emma and I decided on the themed after lots of back and forth on the email and looking at pinterest and other parties I had put together.  A baking themed seemed perfect seeing as Azaelee loves being in the kitchen with mum helping to bake and decorate.  We then spoke to Nicole from Pretty and Print for printables.  Nicole had designed these printables for a previous party so with a few colour changes we were able to match it in with Azaelee’s favourite colours.

The mini kitchen that we used as a prop on the day was a birthday gift for Azaelee and let me tell you Azaelee most certainly has her mothers decorating skills –  I have seen a five year old pipe frosting onto a cupcake like it before!  All the kids had a fabulous time creating mini masterpieces on cookies with edible markers and decorating cupcakes with frosting and sprinkles (some more sprinkles than frosting!).  They also made beautiful garlands to hang on the wall out of cupcake liners and doilies.

Here are a few of the many photos I took on the day – please see the list of lovely vendors at the bottom of the post. Thanks Emma and Azaelee for asking me to be part of your special day.

The venue for the party was also the perfect blank canvas for me to work with!  I do wish there were move fabulous simple spaces around like to create beautiful parties in.   The venue for this party was My Hullaballoo in Engadine, Sydney.

Welcome back for a new week and another Monday Favourite.  Today we are meeting Carol Brewer from Carolyn’s Cakery in Boronia Victoria.  Carol lets us in on how she got started in the Cake business and what her favourite cakes are to create.

When did I find a passion for creating beautiful cakes?

About 6 years ago I casually mentioned to my daughter that I would love to have the ability to design and decorate a cake – that it would be a wonderful way to make a living.  It was she who pushed me and talked me into attending some classes.  So I thought I’d give it a go for one term and see how I liked it and I haven’t looked back.  I have developed a real passion for all things cake and love every aspect, from designing right through to delivering of the final product.  There are so many techniques to learn and new ones popping up all the time – it’s exciting!

Tell us a little about your business?

When I first started out, I was mainly making cakes for family and friends but word slowly got around and the orders started to filter in.  My business, Carolyn’s Cakery, is a home-based business and is now going from strength to strength.

I make all kinds of cakes – birthday, engagement, special occasion and novelty but I have to say that my favorite cakes to make are wedding cakes.  There is something so special and satisfying about making a cake for such an important event in someone’s life.

What are you most popular cake flavours?

The most popular cake flavours I have made are White Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Red Velvet, Raspberry Swirl and Lemon.  All cake flavours are listed on my website along with a range of buttercreams and of course, ganache.  My cakes are made with only the freshest of ingredients, good quality chocolate and fresh fruits.

You can find more of Carols work by visiting her website here or her Facebook page here.
