I read a wonderful blog post on the weekend by Holly at Decor8 blog.  With all that is going on around the world she was talking about just being in moment – taking everything in.  It was a really lovely post that has made me stop and be in the moment far more regularly this week – you can read her post here.

It also got me to thinking about what is it in my home that helps me to be in the moment and for me it is the smell of a scented candle burning – it really does make you stop every time the fragrance catches you.  My current favourite is one by Circa Home – I really love the Oceanique scent.

And once the candle has finished you can reuse the lovely glass cylinder with a tea light candle in it – it would also make a lovely vase.

Happy Monday everyone.
We had another busy event filled weekend which was made all the more interesting with the torrential rain that Sydney received over the past few days – more rain in one day than we have seen all year.  It was lovely however to catch up with new friends at the school kindy cocktail party.  While I did organise the party it was held in someone else’s home which spread the load – I also put together a little dessert table to finish off the evening – it had a chocolate feel about it but there was still plenty of non chocolate items for those who can’t eat or don’t like chocolate! (imagine that!)
Just a few photos to show as it was evening so a little dark and guests were arriving.
Desserts included macaroons, decadent cupcakes, nougat, choc raspberry mousse cups, rosewater cream filled meringues, choc chip biscuits, vanilla wafer sticks, kringlets, chocolate hearts and of course my cookie pops.  I used little mini blackboards to let the guests know what was on each platter.
Happy to say there was not a single item left on the table at the end of the evening!

The devastation and grief being experienced in Japan at the moment is truly unbelievable.  It is so hard to  even comprehend the level of devastation.  My heart truly goes out to the kind and generous Japanese people.
Tomorrow I am joining other bloggers in a day of silence – the least we can do to show our support for a wonderful country in such need.
If you would like to know more about how you can donate or become involved head to Utterly Engaged or Ever Ours.

My heartfelt thanks to my wonderful blogging friends – the incredible support and caring messages you sent after Friday’s post was so warmly appreciated.  The blogging community truly breeds a special kind of person.
After the events of the weekend in Japan we all know how life can be filled with such heartbreak.
I filled my home with lovely bright flowers over the weekend and we also took some beautiful yellow gerbera’s to Laura, and a little gift which the big girls picked – their love, care and compassion for their big sister make me so happy.

Wishing you all a lovely week – stay safe in your travels.
